The thing is - this guy's tactics are pretty much into the same boat as email spam. His clients aren't interested in building the value into their brands, just the short-term quick hit. For those needs, this is fine. My clients pretty much do the opposite - we think about the long term win. In these cases, the tactics are utterly worthless.

But at least TC got to the top of techmeme. Again...

Yep - agree with Leigh - that's what I said over on CN - as someone who managed a variety of precious brands for a fortune 50 company, I can tell you that you screw up once, you might never be able to recover.

It's also interesting to consider whether 3-names-Dan is actually talking about another form of the paid post -- something which TC has seemed to be completely against in the past.
