Mathew's comments: To vote for Mr. Obama, click here

It's the same in France, with the presidential elections heating up. After a couple weeks or so, it is obvious that candidates are re-creating TV channels, i.e. one-way, and using it to just touch a segment of people out there.
Ironically enough, most relevant voters are not those likely to enjoy a DSL line and so all those videos are irrelevant for the most part.
At least in France we still do vote with paper, perhaps the last time before EU-force-fed legislation forces us to use the folkloric e-voting machines.

Thanks for the comment, Stephane. It's interesting to hear a bit about what's going on outside of North America too, something we don't pay as much attention to as we probably should.

"And then there’s Senator John Edwards making his pitch using Rocketboom, and having Poptech video-blogger Robert Scoble tag along on his airplane."

    RE-INTERMEDIATION!

Instead of having a Fourth Estate intermediary, have a flack as a intermediary-marketer.

It's very revealing who thinks this is the greatest thing ever.

    That's a fair point, Seth.

Social media already feels warmed over and tired in the campaign world.

And they are definitely not pitching Clinton well with the launch - honestly, a "conversation"? The last thing she's credited with is the human warmth to enjoy a conversation with the average person, and she isn't going to convince anyone to contrary with campaign spin.

Maybe she's been terribly misunderstood all these years, and really just wants to have a chat :-)
