  • Great post. It would be interesting to see how well your conclusions hold up with more data. Techmeme is conversation driven and that is a lot different from voting. I wonder how this influences which content is popular on each service.
  • That's a good point, Julian. The criteria that determine what moves
    up on Techmeme are different, and are mostly to do with writing and
    linking, whereas Hacker News is strictly direct voting (although you
    could argue that writing about a post and linking to it is a kind of
    vote as well).
