Sadly, I've never seen that it matters. You're confusing an extensively funded right-wing smear-campaign against media in general, with issues of trust. Slashdot was *infamous* for having someone who was abusive and used his position there for his politics and for personal vendettas. Realistically, the mass audience didn't give a damn.
