Your analysis makes sense....
But then, if they do something like this, what would this really do to the two blogs? Wouldn\'t that really transform techcrunch/gigaom into something like an old world pre-blog era publication? With lots of different sections and writers....And perhaps we\'ll all be back to reading Business 2.0 again!
Or maybe not.... :)

And no, Anuvinder, I don't really think it would make TechCrunch and gigaom more like an old media publication -- I think they would still have the same flavour they have now, they would just have a bit more mass when it came to attracting advertising, which I think is the hardest thing about being a micro-niche publication, online or off.

And while I don't think you quite meant it that way, I don't view either TechCrunch or the Om empire as "micro-niche."
