I've been using Disqus for a few weeks but am a bit annoyed that people have to go through a sign up process to get any benefit. Hopefully, my (our?) patience will pay off as more people try it out.

I agree -- that is kind of a barrier. But at the same time, it
encourages people to identify themselves, which I think is good. I
also wish Disqus worked better with a mobile device.
