I have a 16GB iPod touch with a $299 pair of Shure 310 headphones. I agree with David Lynch - to a point. it's definitely hard to pick up the cinematic nuances of a movie on a small screen.
The fact of the matter is that too many movies are crap and not worthy of my time in front of the large screen LCD. If I watch a movie on my iPod and I enjoy it, I'll almost always watch it again on my LCD at home.
