In defence of newspapers and serendipity
Glad to hear you think this is a good idea! I can also share with you that two of the parents blogging in the BlogHer Ad Network are proud bearers of the Maple Leaf: Troll Baby and jenandtonic. With more to come, I certainly hope -- would love your suggestions.
Best,
Lisa
The 25 bloggers selected are neither all of them nor the top 25. Blogher has formed an ad network specifically of Mommy bloggers from the larger community. Mommies are to be followed by other categories as you mentioned in your article. Food and beverage bloggers are indeed next, then Health and Wellness.
Apparently, the selection of category was driven by two factors. One, the advertising connections available to Blogher management based upon previous experience at women.com. Two, these are traditional women's categories which don't require educating advertisers.
Thanks for your thoughts. The ad network is exciting to me as a blogger because it offers visibility and revenue for doing something I care about. It legitimizes the blogging experience.

Echoing the others -- thanks for the shout-out. I'm thrilled to be a part of the BlogHer team -- certainly exciting times!
One thing, though -- I'm Trinidadian, and "Chookooloonks" is a Trini term of endearment, not Jamaican -- a common mistake, but the countries are thousands of miles apart!
Thanks again!
