Imagine showing someone from 20 years ago the ipod touch. They would probly loose their mind. That makes me imagine 20 years from now what kind of mind boggling gadgets we will have. I cant wait for the teleporting. save me the commute to work

Late, but... You know who would *love* this? My 70 year old Dad. He was blown away by the iPhone recently, especially Google Earth. If there were an option bluetooth keyboard and an easy way to wirelessly connect it to a stereo, this would be amazing. It's the perfect mix of the iPhone/Touch interface and size. I think a slightly faster processor would help - things like Google Earth are just too much for the iPhone - but... consider me intrigued.

I think Apple has to launch such a device because cheap netbooks are now robbing sales of traditional laptops. Apple doesn't want to drop the price of the MacBook, not by much anyway, so this device can meet the lower price point, leaving the "more powerful" MacBook where it is. I use quotes because for most people I think the new device would actually be superior, as I wrote at http://www.rohanjayasekera.... .

wow can not belive it.apple always create faboulas things.this sounds really cool.and the function it has are simply great.its stunning outstanding.i am waiting fot it to be lounched.

Good point, Jay -- to be fair, the mockup is actually an image someone came up with of what was supposed to be a Mac tablet, but the same criticisms would apply. I still think it could kick ass though :-)

I'm looking at that mockup and I'm thinking that typing on it is going to be really tricky. The iPhone works because it's easy to hold in one hand and type with the other. That menu would also be really hard to use given how tightly the menu items are packed together.

Of course, it's a fake mockup, so I guess the really hard part in using the device will be that it doesn't exist :) I'd probably buy one if it did though. Great for catching up on Google Reader.
